SOHNAKK
Since my school days, I’ve gone by the nickname and artist name Sohnakk (昭珞). My father gave me this name as an art name (ho, 號) by adding the meaning from Chinese characters to it with Korean way of pronunciation.
昭珞 can be interpreted as “radiant resonance” or “an echo shining brightly.”
昭: “soh,” to shine, to illuminate — something that is revealed clearly and brightly.
珞: “nakk,” originally meaning a necklace of jewels, with the same root as 琅, which refers to a kind of jade whose sound is pure and carries far — resonance, echo.
Together, 昭珞 expresses ideas such as:
1. Truth or virtue shines forth like light, resonating in people’s hearts like an echo.
2. The inner light radiates outward, leaving a lasting impression.
3. “Your sincerity is 昭珞, bright enough to illuminate even the darkness.”
4. An artist or researcher who spreads bright insight that resonates.
Sohnakk == 昭珞
I hope to live up to this meaning — to be an artist and scholar whose light resonates.
Deepest thanks to Professor Hosan Son (손흥철) for giving me this name
